Here's a follow-up to an earlier discussion of the wide variety of climate and terrain in California. For the last week, we have been enjoying balmy spring-like weather here in Chico. Then overnight, old man winter arrived with a vengeance! Taken this morning at about 0830 hrs, of my favorite field near my house. B-R-R-R-R As I'm writing this, it's still in the low 20's in my carport. OK, Laugh, all you dwellers in the frozen north! ;D Roy

Roy, I wouldn't dream of laughing at you. As of 1900 hrs, eastern standard time, we've got 40 degrees fahrenheit, and rain. Except for a bit of cold air sent courtesy of our Canadian friends, you know who you are, when it got to 10 below for a few days, we've had a very mild winter.

Roy, "OK, Laugh, all you dwellers in the frozen north! ;D" [/b] Who's Laughing. What an opportunity.
Quickly, Roy. Gather up all the ice you can. Put it in oak barrels and store it away for 6 months to a year.
You will have made genuine ice whine.

Right now it is about 10 degrees here in Minnesota, and might make it below zero tonight or tomorrow with the wind. But lately, it has been in the 30's, and there is only dusting of snow here.

The only snow to fall here was one day last October. Ski resorts are still waiting to open. The end of the dry spell may be in sight. They are predicting a storm Wednesday will drop more than a foot of snow in the mountains and possibly several inches here in the valley. Frankly I wish those several inches would fall in the mountains. I'm not a snow person.
