Hello, Hye: Thought I would start a new thread rather than continuing to hi-jack the Canon A35F thread. I finally found where I put my M-42 to Canon FD adapter after I took it off my FTb after taking that picture the other day. When mounting an M-42 lens to the adapter, the important thing is to make sure that the shoulder on the lens seats solidly against the flange of the adapter. This regulates the register distance of the lens to allow infinity focus. That may or may not coincide with the aperture index. It should not be off very much, but a few degrees will not matter. As far as the meter display in the view-finder, when the FTb is used in "stop-down" mode, the ring stays at the bottom of the meter display, and exposure is set by matching the needle to the ring with shutter speed or aperture setting, or a combination of both. When using M-42 lenses, the "A/M" switch should be placed in the "M" position to allow the aperture ring to stop the lens down. In low light, I focus with the lens in the "A" position, then switch it to "M" to set the exposure, and shoot with it in "M". It sounds more complicated than it really is, and becomes instinctive with a little practice. Hope this helps, and have fun! Roy

Just to clarify stop down metering on the Canon FTb with uncoupled lenses you have to match the needle (moving) with the metering index (fixed) in the viewfinder.

Thank you, Rachel. That's exactly right. I don't have the manual to scan, and have never figured out how to photograph the viewfinder screen! Roy
