Just noticed this comment. "Welcome, Carl, from Lincoln." Many many year ago (55+) I had relations that lived a town called Lincoln . They ran a public house down on the docks. From memory I think it was the ''Oddfellow's Arms' or something on those lines

There is a pub called The Oddfellow's Arms on Carholme Road in Lincoln - but not on the docks as we are the best part of 40 miles from the coast. I must admit 55 years ago was a bit before my time as a drinker so I have no recollections of who the landlord would have been.

I'm sure it was down on the docks or a river..the name was something like 'the pool of blandford' as I say it was a long time ago, the last time I visited was in the early 1950s .

That would be Brayford Pool. Not a docks - although it was in Roman times. It is a sort of canal boat interchange for the River Witham and the Fosse dy_ke canal. (underscore to prevent daft censorship)

Brayford Pool and the River Witham rings a few bells. As I say "visited was in the early 1950s " or it could have been the very late 40s. I do remember it was near a bend in the river and very near a swing bridge.

I have just a look at google maps and reckon it could have been Carholme Road just one street back from the Brayford Pool.
