New to the board and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ian O'Neill and I'm a freelance writer and author of a mystery novel Endo. I live in Burlington, Ontario, Canada with my wife, daughter and two dogs. I've been shooting for most of my life and met my wife 14 years ago in a photography class. We recently started a collection of cameras and we've been hooked ever since. We don't have a great deal of funds so that limits the types of cameras we collect. But, that just adds to the pleasure - hunting. I know I'll be asking a lot of question on this board so, I hope I won't wear out my welcome. Cheers, Ian

Welcome Ian. Good to have you aboard. A guy with a daughter and two dogs (we have three daughters and one dog) can't be all bad. What brands do you collect?

Welcome Ian.
It sounds like Camera Collector is just your cup of tea if you don't mind some of the crazies here.
I would never ask what brands of daughters or dogs you collect. He is really quite nice though and harmless and a very good writer. If you have some difficult questions he may have the answers.
By the way what kinds of cameras do you collect?
We do have some accomplished collectors/writers as members.
I am in that lowly burgh just to the east of you, Toronto.

Thanks Wayne and Mickey for the warm welcome. I have an affinity for Nikon since the first 35mm SLR I ever shot with was an EM (still have and shoot with it). Here's a blog post I did about film about a year ago authorianoneill.blogspot.ca/2011/07/films-not-dead.html. It shows the first shot I ever took with it. I've got the EM, FE and F90x along with a host of Nikon DSLRs. I also love old Polaroid pack cameras like the 330. It was the camera my dad used and I picked one up and I've been shooting with it for about a year now, thanks, in part, to B and H out of New York; FujiFilm is affordable for my pack cameras from there. I have quite a few Polaroids; I just pick up a 220 with case and flash from an outdoor market a few weeks back. I swear the person who used this camera did so but once. It and the flash are pristine. My wife isn't quite so picky - she'll pick up what she 'likes' which is pretty much what strikes her fancy. She grabbed a Minolta SRT 101 in great shape just a week ago. She came home today with a Polaroid Joycam. She does love the old Kodak folding cameras and we have four of those. Always looking for more. Right now, I'd love to find a good camera to shoot 120 film. I've shot a role using an old, beat up Agfa Isolette - I'll dig up a shot or two. I'm so unfamiliar with it that I'm unsure of how to use it. I did manage a roll and some of the shots looked pretty good. Again, thanks so much for the warm welcome. Cheers, Ian

Ian, welcome. To quote Wayne: "A guy with a daughter and two dogs (we have three daughters and one dog) can't be all bad. What brands do you collect?" Well, I wasn't sure if Wayne was wondering what brand of dog you collect.
As regards writing, Gene Wilburn aka StarbuckGuy used to contribute regularly here but he has disappeared into his documents (which is a great shame for us). We have now gained someone, you, in, as it were, the reverse direction.
Dave.
p.s. have you made a typo in your opening post: should your book be Endo and not Enod?

Hi Ian! Welcome to the forum! I'm from Binghamton, New York where Ansco cameras and film were made. Not too many Polaroid collectors out there, but they're nice cameras and pretty easy to find. I've been looking for a model 195. Doug

There are some nice 120 film cameras you can get, I have a Braun Gloria, a folding camera, the shutter assembly is on a pop out tube.
