Hello everyone!
I picked up on old Ciro flex a few years ago and fell in love with it! Unfortunately it is in bad shape cosmetically, light leaks, stiff focusing etc. However, the shutter is fine! Recently I bought another Ciro flex on ebay, just simply for the case that came with it! The Ciro flex I I just got in the mail is cosmetically great but the shutter does not work! So I wanted to ask real quick, is there some reason that I could not take the shutter and lens from the working camera and put it in the body of the non working camera?
The working shutter is an Rapax, Wollensak 83mm lens f3.2 in a non working Ciro flex body (Model F).
The non working shutter is an Alphax Wollensak 85mm lens f3.5
2nd question: For the still focusing I see the mechanism inside that is stiff, I think it needs to be lubed, can someone recommend a proper lube?
Thanks in advance!
Nancy

I was given a Ciroflex last Saturday. The shutter sounds reasonable and the body is not in bad shape. I'll test drive it soon to check for light leaks, etc.
I think it's one of the later models. Rapax shutter, Wollensak 83mm f/3.2 taking lens. M-F-X flash sync.
Anyone else here used a Ciroflex?

Nancy, by some strange coincidence a fellow member here sent me a link to a web site two days ago that has information on repairing the Ciro-Flex and the Rapax shutter. Try here: daniel.mitchell.name/cameras/index.htmlIf you do swap shutter/lens assemblies, use a ground glass and loupe of 8x or more to confirm infinity focus. You may find it necessary to shim the shutter for critical focus. Gene, no Ciro-Flex but I did just receive an Ikoflex II. Walker

Walker, an Ikoflex II? My first TLR was a very beat-up Ikoflex IIa. I got a few decent shots with it -- sold it later when I got my used Rolleiflex.
Be sure to post some images from the Ikoflex. I'll do likewise with the Ciroflex, providing it works ok.

It came to me - as advertised - with a single speed shutter. The lenses were also coated with a film suggesting that it's sat in a smoker's home for some time. I repaired the shutter and cleaned the lenses and everything seems to work properly now. Walker

The 83mm F/3.2 is a Tessar design, the 85mm F/3.5 is a Triplet design. That might influence your decision. As for the lubricant, plain 'ol moly wheel bearing grease should work great.

The 85F3.2 lens is somewhat rare. Most common is the 3.5 lens. However, not all the 3.5 lenses are triplets, some are also 4-element. Look for the ones marked 'Velostigmat'.
