Blue sky often doesn't scan "clean". I have always presumed that the problem is interference patterns which form when the film grain and dot size combine. Ricoh were always decent cameras - and don't they own the Pentax name now?

Nice looking Ricoh, Colin. I have been a fan of Ricoh cameras for some time. I have several of them, and have found them to be solid, dependable cameras. The one weakness that I have found is the shutter interlock (I don't know what the correct term is--I'm talking about the gizmo that prevents winding on when the shutter is already cocked). That item is somewhat weak, and easily bent. It does not hamper the operation of the rest of the camera in any way. I have adapted my shooting style so that I cock the camera as I am raising it to take a shot, rather than immediately after exposure. If shooting a series without lowering the camera, just be aware of the possibility of damage to the interlock from over-enthusiastic winding. This was learned at the expense of several unexplained blank frames! That being said, however, my Ricohs are part of my regular rotation of shooters. I really like'em! Roy

For example the Exakta has a left hand advance. Quite disconcerting but it quickly becomes a part of the operation that needs no thought and presents no problems. Mickey
