I am not sure if I am posting this in the correct section however, here goes. I just purchased a Minolta SR-1s at a local indoor flea market. The camera seems clean and functions well and in a couple of days I will take it out and test it. I was wondering about the age of this camera and how much did I over pay for it at $15? I hope this does not go as me attempting to get an estimate on the camera because that is not really my intention as I plan on keeping it and adding it to my meager collection of my 3 X-370s and my 100.
A funny side note on the reason I have three X-370s, at one time I was taking pictures of both stock-car racing and Bicycle BMX racing and I always took two cameras to the track. This was in the late 80s to the mid 90s. Well, I had replaced the batteries (two 357s) in the cameras a couple of times but I had one camera lock up so I went to E-Bay to purchase a replacement. To make a long story short, I purchased another 370 and being the person who wants everything to be ready person that I am, I replaced the batteries in the newly purchased 370 and that one locked up. I opened the battery compartment on the one working camera and found that in the other two I had put the batteries in upside down.

Well, I'm not being obtuse here, but most of us camera collectors don't sit and mull about how much we spent or over spent for a camera. If this SR1s has a good shutter, and the viewfinder is fairly clear, you got a hell of a deal. If it has the clip on meter, you stole it.

Randy, I never thought you were being obtuse, however, I am still in the stage of deciding if I am a camera collector or a camera accumulator so I most likely will have to learn Camera Collector Jargon better. In all honesty the little I do attempt to learn about pricing I do on E-bay watching the highs and lows as compared to the apparent condition. The bad part is that I have not seen (that I remember) many SR1s listed to get a lay of the land idea.

I'd say that any Minolta SLR that works and is clean is a steal for $15 In my experience, Collectiblend is a good reference for prices (http://collectiblend.com/Cameras/Minolta/Minolta-SR-1-S.html), however I've found that market prices tend to be lower than what the site says. Your new camera, per Collectiblend, is 48 years old.

I wonder if McKeown's will be bringing out a new edition of 'Cameras'.
Their latest is 6 years old.
In addition to reasonable (usually) up to date (usually) prices their information about cameras is (always) much appreciated.
Mickey
P.S. When they do I hope it is in two volumes. Arthritis does not like heavy tomes.
