Don't know how many of you have a Contax 139 Quartz camera, but the PC Sync on the front of the camera is a feature that left uncovered ruins the looks. I'm not sure if the 139 came with a sync cover or not, but I started looking for one. I see the Gold Anniversary sync covers on ebay for 25 dollars US + shipping. Well, I just can't see why that little thing is worth 25 bucks. So I started comparing cameras, and one that is made for modern Nikons looked to have the same pc sync. I took a chance and ordered one for .99 cents from the guy in China that I buy things from now and then. 3 weeks later, it arrived today. I took my 139 out of the case and the cover fit like it was made for it. www.ebay.com/itm/271043379578?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Randy, what did you use to re-cover your Contax 139 Quartz? Or is your covering still intact?

I haven't any experience of the Contax, but I do like my Yashica FX-D Quartz a lot. I think the two cameras do share some common parts and features. Like most Yashica's of this era mine had no leather cloth left, and the light seals had glued the film door tightly shut. I've re covered this Yashica with leather salvaged from the seats of a WW2 Douglas DC3 Dakota. Where I grew up was right next to a RAF base where old aircraft were brought in to scrap and salvage, just over the fence from our house! It's made a nice finish to this lovely camera, one that deserves a lot more than being consigned to junk bins because the leatherette has perished.

lloydy, that is really a lovely Yashica, and the leather is awesome. I also have got the Yashica bug, and have bought TL and TL Super. Both m42 metal cameras, I like them a lot. Then I got a Contax 139, also a great camera. What I like the most is the simplicity in the field, the nice bright viewfinder, speedy settings and compatibility Yashica/Zeiss lenses. Yashica ML lenses are almost as good as Zeiss, but at half the price or better. Would have been fun also having a Planar or 45mm Tessar lens. I might have to get the same device as Randy to cover up for the pc sync.

Can anyone confirm my suspicion the Yashica ML lenses are constructed by Tomioka? Several claims says so, but how could one know for sure. Those of you long time collectors might know this better than I, as camera history comes into knowledge.

Very nice, I like it, it's classy. Is it genuine leather or artificial?

It's leather from Aki-Asahi.
