I guess this place is going down the tubes. It's the first time since 2005 somebody hasn't said Happy Thanksgiving. Maybe it's time to shut r down.
Happy Thanksgiving to anyone that sees this.

I just checked "Thanksgiving" at the Wikipedia. It's interesting, that there seem to be similar traditions in many countries and cultures. In Germany for example, it's not on a special day and not being celebrated everywhere. Just in areas with a lot of agriculture, farmers are having a festival in their village, displaying and sharing a part of their harvest in autumn. Here in Japan, there are similar traditions, related to the Shinto-religion or Buddhism, but also locally very different ( regarding the date and customs ).
What is the meaning of Thanksgiving and wishing somebody a "Happy Thanksgiving" in the States ?

You are late. We, north of the 49th, celebrated Thanksgiving on 8 October. But I do wish you a belated Happy Thanksgiving. We left a few turkeys for you. Mickey

I think it's pretty bad when we have membership of over 1000 members and we get less than .5 % member participation.

Hi Randy ! As Berndt said, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving here in Austria, but I know that this is a special day for you over the pond. All I know about American Thanksgiving comes from Hollywood-movies and TV series: A joyful family meeting with plenty of food, mainly turkey. So, Happy Thanksgiving to America ! MIK

Now that the Black Friday nonsense is over, and I've had a few hours to decompress, I am more in the mood for Holiday festivities. For those folks living across the globe, "Black Friday" in the US is the day when major retailers plan to move their balance sheets over into profitable territory, into the "black" so to speak. It is a day of frenzied shopping and bargain hunting across the US. Being employed by a huge retailer (of which my shop is a part) and being part of the management staff, this is a stressful and hectic time of the year. But it is over for another year, and I have been able to relax a little ;D
S-o-o-o-o
HAPPY THANKSGIVING from one who is celebrating TODAY ;D ;D

I don't think I did too bad Roy...my sugar is usually around 105-115 in the morning before breakfast. After all the food I ate yesterday, it was only 141 this morning.

When I saw 105-141 I was shocked. With those readings I would be a sugar cube. Then I realized Canada uses a different system for measuring blood sugar levels. Good readings here are between 4 and 7 millimoles. I am usually in the 9's, which is considered tolerable for my age and have plunged to 2.3 (Hypoglycemia) (Scary). I just checked a conversion table. The USA safe limits are 72 to 126 mg/dl. You are doing much better than I. I am sure my reading went up 2 units when Doug mentioned pumpkin pie. Mickey
