Anyone got a decent Tessar f2.8 45mm front element suitable for a Contaflex Super? (I believe the Prima, 2, 3 and 4 are compatible, not too sure about the later ones). The one on mine looks like it has been sand blasted!

Stuart,
You need a Tessar 1:2,8 f=50mm for your Super. The 45mm was used for the I and II and is not changeable.
Sometimes these front elements are offered at Ebay Germany.
For historical reasons you should opt for a Tessar in the 232xxxx to 341xxxx range...

Thanks for pointing out my error, you are quite correct of course.

Hans, do the front elements from the later cameras fit and function, even if not historically correct?

Stuart,
All Tessar 2,8/50 should fit; all Pantar don't: they were meant for the alpha, beta and prima C'flexes.
The very late Tessar front ends are believed to be re-calculated when the Contaflex S was introduced (around 50xxxxx). But they will fit anyhow.
Only with the M 1:1 frontends there are (subtle) differences - when you are lucky to find one that is...
