Had a real scare last night. I woke up last night to hear very loud buzzing sounds and humming. There were lights flashing and at times the windows lit up like lightning. The buzzing got louder and there was humming and crackling. I said, "What the hell is that?" and my wife said, "Maybe it's that Mayan UFO". Louder humming! Buzzing! Night turned into day!
I got up and looked out the window. I live near Lake Erie and there is a Dock Company 2 blocks away. There was a huge golden orb on the horizon toward the lake and the docks. It was pulsating, dark gold to yelllow, blue to white, flashing! Then suddenly everything went dark. Our electric went off. Now I started to worry.
Then I saw some blue and white sparks in the distance with a crackling and popping sound. Then nothing at all.....
I realized there is a electrical sub-station down there to provide electric to the docks. Annnnhhh.....it was just a transformer. I went back to bed and about 5 minutes later, the lights came back on. So much for my brush with the Mayans...

I was driving down a country road one time at about 5 a.m. --still dark-- and all of a sudden the world lit up brighter than daylight. I actually thought someone had hit us with a nuke and braced for the shockwave---which never came. An electrical transformer on a power pole about a hundred years in from of me had exploded. It was pretty awesome.

Here we all are on the other side, and all you can do is talk about power failures?
At least we have our computers with us.
