I took this shot a couple of years ago, shooting from the moving ferry that runs from the northern tip of the Michigan lower-peninsula mainland to Mackinac Island (near the eastern tip of the Michigan upper peninsula ). The lighthouse marks the entrance to the harbor at the island. It was shot with my Mamiya NC1000, using a 135mm Mamiya CS lens, 1/125 @ f/16, on Kodak Gold 200. It has been cropped very, very slightly in PhotoShop after my scan of the print, mostly to level the horizon. My notes don't say so, but I'm pretty sure there was a polarizing filter on the lens!

Nice and different, Herron. I enjoy taking pictures of lighthouses, and have found some nice ones in Michigan's UP, as well as along the northern shore of Lake Superior.

I like this, Ron. I like the uncluttered simplicity of the composition and the way the blue sky at the top complements the darker blue of the water . A well-seen picture, almost pulled from nothing. Well done.

Excellent shot. There's a simular light house not far from here in Ashtabula.

Ron,
A most interesting composition. Many would have more centered the lighthouse in the scene, but I really like it being close to the bottom and showing more of the beautifull cloud-filled blue sky. If one did not see the lighthouse at first, their eyes would immediately scroll down the sky to it. I also like the fact that the lighthouse sits off-center horizontally.
I agree, most likely you did use a polarizing filter.
Nice job!!!
