OK, I wasn't going to buy this one, but for 5 Dollars I couldn't say no. I've found a few of these over the years, and have yet to find one with a working flash This one is no exception! A previous owner left the AA battery in it, so of course it's a mess in the battery compartment. A couple drops of vinegar got it open, but it will be a while before I can safely extract the old battery (I don't want to get rough with it). I hope the contacts aren't TOO corroded. Maybe someday I'll find one that works. Doug

I got the battery out, an easier job than I thought it would be The contacts were all cleaned, and a battery put in. It's an older battery which brings me to my next question. The flash makes the right noises, and seems to be powering up, but the ready light hasn't come on, and the flash still doesn't work. Could it be the weak battery? Maybe the capacitor isn't getting enough to charge it. Luckily, the AA is only for the flash. The rest of the camera (meter, shutter speed, and aperture) runs off of a 625 button battery. I bought some adapters to use LR44 batteries, and they work nicely. This might be a candidate for re-covering. I'll have a whole sheet of white to play with soon. Thanks Randy! Doug
