I have just bought a FX-D from eBay for a very low price. It hasn't arrived yet, so cannot comment on it, but I do know that the battery cover has been chewed up.
If the camera is alright I will be looking for, perhaps another donor camera, so, does anyone know if it is a Yashica item only fitting the FX-D, or perhaps will the cover from, for example the FX -3 fit. (or FR series?) Thanks in anticipation.

yashica1943.....I have 2 TL Electro X parts cameras and one FX-3 parts camera. If any of those batteries caps will fit....let me know. If so, I will drag them out of hiding and see if they have the battery cover. If they do I'll just send it to you. No charge.

Thank you Bob, you know I live in the UK? I will measure the cap/cover up when it arrives and describe it, or photograph the remains!. R.

The Yashica FX-D has not arrived. The 'delivery' service state that it was delivered today. It wasn't, I was indoors keeping a look out for that and another parcel. Apparently it was signed for, it might have been, but certainly not by me. I have seen the tracking, delivered and signed for! When I went to my next door neighbour's in the vain hope that it might have gone there, I told him that I was waiting for an old camera and that I collected them, he gave me a quite good Zenit EM still with a film in! So, I suppose I had better keep it.
The Yashica arrived Monday afternoon, the 'courier' knew nothing about the confusion. Tuesday, I have had an apology from the delivery company. The annoying thing is that I bought the camera and paid for it to be delivered by Royal Mail. The seller has saved a few pence, caused the delivery to be approx 6 days late and put me to some trouble.

I have used it to repair bakelite and plastic cameras and even some wooden camera parts. It is easy to work. sugru.com - Buy sugru from sugru Mickey

You are welcome. Enjoy! And let us all know how the FX-D performs. all the best Bob Hey there Bob, I too have the same exact issue with a newly arrived FX-D. The battery cover came chewed up and it’s unable to hold the batteries in place, otherwise the camera works perfectly. Do you have a spare battery cover you could donate to me as well? Also located in the U.K. no bother if you cannot!
