Once again I poke my nose into mysterious matters electronic that are beyond my ken. Why can each posting not have a little box with the word "REPLY" or "RESPONSE" which, when clicked on will open a blank place for a response to that posting with only the name of the person to whom one is responding? Many sites have this feature and it makes life on the internet much easier. It also encourages greater participation. Mickey

There is a box below each post that says Quick Reply. There is also a button on the right that says Reply for more features in your post. You can also click on Quote to include the person's post in your reply. What more do you want Mickey? I don't get it.

Randy,
I guess that is my problem too.
I don't get it.
I shall have to get my grandsons to conduct a series of courses for me.

Mickey
If you are using the "Recent Posts" feature it complicates matters. If you view through "Recent Posts" there will be no Quick Reply box beneath the post. What I suggest is if you see a post viewed while viewing "Recent Posts" and you wish to reply to it----click on the title of the post....that will take you directly to that thread. Then scroll down to the bottom of that thread and there you will see the Quick Reply box.
That may makes things more enjoyable for you...try it OK Buddy.

Randy and Bob,
Thank you,
I shall heed all your advice and will try it as soon as I finish this letter and give Killer his mid morning snack.
P.S.
Bob. Check your personal Mail. M.O.

Those two buttons are at the bottom of the page of boxes only. Usually when I reply I don't want to include the entire letter to which I am replying. What more do I want? I though I knew. Now I don't know. Perhaps a shrink? Mickey

Bob,
Is there any alternative to using "Recent Posts"? Each box does not have a title. If I am viewing a post am I not already in a thread?

Mickey Mickey, Using "Recent Posts" I see a box title and there are three buttons top right in each box, Quote, Edit, other options button. I'm replying via the Quote button. If you don't want to quote you can manually delete it when constructing the reply.

Yes, I can manually delete all or part of it but I would like to avoid having to do that. Especially the partial quote removal. That can be a little sensitive and time consuming and may be prone to errors. If one could, on the original letter, highlight the area to be quoted when it is not surrounded with all that electronic code and then click 'Quote' would it not be faster and surer? That's all I want. And a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Mickey

Well, don't ask me: I've no idea. I shall have to drop in a little more often to see what this is all about.

Mickey Hello Mickey Sorry I was away from computer all day yesterday as Sherri and I were at the NASCAR race yesterday. Now that I'm back and catching up I see your posts. First, I do not see any PMs or email from you. But to answer your questions some more.--I only mentioned the recent posts process because I thought that was how you normally accessed the posts, to read them. How do you normally access the forum's posts when you wish to see what is new? Do you look at each sub-board and see if anything is new? Do you click recent posts at the very bottom of the forum? Do you click recent threads at the bottom of the forum? Once I know how you normally view the posts then I can advise you how to reply easier than you currently seem to do. Bob

Okay Bob,
Step by step. At top of my monitor screen I go to the Bookmarks row of listed sites. >The Camera Collector. Takes me to Home page of The Camera Collector. Scroll down watching right hand column which has for each entry, three rows. Title of letter. Name of sender. Time or date posted. If this row is brighter than others it has not been read by me.
>On Title of letter. This takes me directly to the letter in question in its thread. At the top right side of the letter are three boxes. QUOTE EDIT and a COG WHEEL with a thin vertical line ❋ l. That is all. But ---- At the very top of all the letters in a yellow bar - at the left is REPLY. At the right is REPLY. At the top of the first letter is <<Prev 1 2 3 (etc,) Next>> On the right is ACTIONS Search Q (a magnifier).
At the bottom of all the letters is a blank white box for the message to be sent. Atop that box in a yellow bar at its left Quick Reply. At its right Reply. At the bottom of the space in the grey area at the left is Post Quick Reply in a white box.
It's oh so simple. If you were born with a mouse in your hand.

Mickey
I'm not sure what browser you are using but on my laptop which uses the latest version of IE and I do not see all that you have described. But I guess that is not important. It sounds to me that once you get to the last post in a thread that you are viewing, you can either use the reply box or the quick reply box. That is pretty good. Better than what I have to do to reply. So, Mickey, what is the problem? You have read the most recent post and can use 1 of 2 ways to reply. That seems fine to me. What you may wish to try is go to the camera collector home and then scroll down to the bottom and click on the recent thread (not recent post) and click it. When you do that you will see all the threads that have been replied to recently. Pick one and click on it. That will bring up all the posts in that thread. The order will be oldest first and newest at the bottom. You read the last one (which is the newest one) and then if you wish to reply to it...right below it is the quick reply box...and you can use it if you wish to reply yourself. Try that, you may like that method better......
good luck Bob
