Hi I am new on here and this is open 35. This might be a stupid question so I'll make sure I ask it. I just got a Minolta SRT SC-II . think it was made in 1977. Got the CLC meter in it. What does this sticker mean? (JCII 75 PASSED JMDC) The camera was made in 77 and the SC-II model 77-80. What does the 75 mean? Thank you very much and great forum:)

Dennis,
Hello and welcome. The sticker signifies that the design has been passed by the Japanese (board of trade or whatever) as "suitable for sale". Some used to think that each and every camera, lens or whatever had been tested, but it is just a general thing to show that the design itself is fine.
Dave
p.s. I did find a more thorough explanation about it all several years back - I don't know where and I can't say that I have looked since. I think the 75 just refers to part of the test/patent code rather than anything to do with year of manufacture. No doubt there is more information somewhere on the net.

I think the number refers to the first dated application by the maker to use the stickers on a particular model or model series. Stephen.

Dave and Stephen
I am old enough to remember when they used these stickers. I didn't know much about them or what the JCII stood for. The word passed to me meant passed inspection. It was the number that confused me the most. Thank you both for the information.

An internet search reveals JCII as Japanese Camera Inspection Institute (est. 1954; Japan). I can't find anything at the moment for JMDC, unless it's the Jute Manufacturers Development Council (Kolkota, India)! Perhaps with the J changed to Japanese we have the same last three words as this.
