A nice Petri 1.9 from ebay, the only bidder I paid the starting price. It fires on all speeds and the rangefinder is spot-on. Very happy, A MIOM Photax from another member here and a bunch of bodies from a guy on Gumtree. Including a Wirgin Edixa Flex, three Prakticas, a couple of Pentax ME Supers and a Canon EOS1000. I'm thinning my collection but can't miss out on a bargain. The Petri looks as if it had been dropped, there was a broken filter on the front and a trio of small chips on the front of the lens. These will cause flare so I'm going to fill them with matt black paint. With the body lot there was a set of Sony/Minolta A extension tubes fully auto, and two Canon FD 2x converters.

The Pentax ME supers have got problems. One was in pretty bad shape and was my test guineapig to dissect. So that one is dead. The other has no life in it when I put in the battery. Any help?

Hi Phil! Nine cameras in one day must be some sort of record! I've found that sometimes contacts aren't as clean as they look, they still might have some oxidation on them. Try using an old (pencil type) ink eraser on them. That might do the trick. I've brought quite a few "dead" cameras back to life that way. Doug

I use vinegar to shift corroded battery acid. The actual battery compartment seems clean enough. I'm going to try the pencil eraser and vinegar. But I fear that the electronics are kaput.
Years ago I made a permanent cleaner for terminals even deep inside narrow camera battery compartments.
For $4.95 CAN I purchased a childs fishing outfit complete with solid fiberglass rod.
I cut the rod into several 8" sections and several smaller ones then roughed up both ends of each section.
The rod can be rubbed or twirled on a contact. It is quite effective and leaves no rubber crumbs.
It takes almost no room in a camera bag.
Then some genius invented the fiberglass pen which is sometimes too thick, leaves tiny broken bits of fiberglass and wears out quickly. I think it sold here for $9.95. CAN.

Oddly enough, today at First Monday, in Canton, Texas, (we're kinda informal about days of the week in Texas) I found a Linhof Technika, for which the man wanted $700. This would be off-topic, except for the "extra lenses for the camera". A 35mm and a short tele, both with M42 mounts. He didn't believe me, until I showed him the Edixaflex manual at the bottom of the case. He's going to think about it, before he "breaks the set."

He has no idea about the gear yet spot-on with the price of the Linhof (body only)
Any idea what the lenses were?
Re: my Edixa, I got a nice waist level finder for £4 on ebay with case. The case will fit the prism finder when they are swapped over. Nice. I also replaced the (removable) ground glass screen with one from a broken Minolta. Its a lot brighter now and has a more positive focus. Its a very nice camera to use and fits in well with my collection. Although it is listed by Mckewowns as 1958 it was shown at Photokina in '57.

I briefly thought about going to 1st Monday as I drove through Canton on June 30th (on the way to Caddo Lake SP), then again on July 3rd, on our way back! I've never been, but have always heard that there were "old cameras" there, from my students who have been.
