A couple of weeks ago, one of my co-workers brought in a box of old photo gear that he had found in a thrift store operated by a family friend of his. Knowing of my interest in things photographic, he brought the whole box of goodies to me to take a look at. I wanted the WHOLE box of stuff! But buried down in the bottom was a cased Ricoh XR Rikenon 28mm f2.8 lens in very nice, but dusty condition. Those of you that have been here a while probably are aware that my favorite "normal" lens of all time is my battered up old Ricoh XR Rikenon 50mm f2. Wondering if lightning could strike twice, I quickly ponied up the $22.00 asking price, and took the old lens home. After cleaning the dust off it, I mounted it on my Canon and gave it a test run. Using my usual setting of -1/2 stop compensation and aperture priority, I was lucky enough to have a terrific sunset develop in front of me: ISO 400, f8, 1/350, handheld while standing on top of a dumpster, as shot, NO post of any kind! I think just maybe I might keep it! Roy

Everything seems to have gone right and the results prove it.
Happy shooting.

The sunset shot is awesome, good mood, color and composition!! I think XR-series Rikenons are unique, both in terms of sharpness, colors and overall performace. Price is fair, no reason not to get one.
