Thanks daveh,
After looking at these photos you posted, it appears there will be no good way to put the latch back on...at least not with any skills that I have. Even if I could put the latch back on, I don't think the integrity of the latch would ever be back to what it should be.
On the first picture you posted, looking at the "figure-8" hole on the right-hand side, it appears that bottom section is what has sheared off. It looks like there is a flat-head screw that is still attached to my latch that would attach into that lower section of the figure 8. According to the third picture you posted, it is one solid piece and it just failed to hold on.
The internal ring shown on the second picture (with three screws in it) does not want to come off of mine. I have been able to remove only one screw from that ring so far. The others are pretty solid and don't want to move. Anyone have suggestions for loosening the other screws? Will the Ronsonol work on that as well?
I guess the only thing I can do at this point is to look for a camera I can loot spare parts from to get this fixed. You wouldn't be willing to part with this ring, would you? It appears to be in good shape, and I should be able to remove the screw from the sheared off plate on my current latch to attach to this.
In the meantime, I will move back to my original issue, which is still the film winder lift. That one is still a mystery to me why it won't lift at all, but in all fairness, I still haven't gone to get the Ronsonol fluid yet. So far, I had been having too much fun getting these other items figured out that it got moved to the back burner.
