Here's a Group Project for every member. Show us a photo of yourself with a Camera hanging around your neck. Should be an easy project, Freda (my wife) took this picture of me last year at the historic Blakeslee Log Cabin. I think that's my Yashica Minister D.

OK, here goes nothing. Me in Laughlin, Nevada in April (?) last year. Yes, classic post growing from the top of my head shot, but hey, blame my wife the photographer, lol. Camera I believe was my Albinar MS-2 (Chinon CM 5 clone).

I tried to shrink the picture but, as you can see it didn't work.
Much too much Mickey

Mickey: You're so much better looking than I imagined! BTW: what's the vintage of that tripod? Also BTW: My wife took the picture I use for my avatar (we were spending a long weekend with friends on Mackinac Island), and it is actually a shot where I am standing with my camera clutched in one paw (you just can't see it...and I'm trying to find another shot taken that day where you can). My friend Tom was actually standing next to me (shadow side, but you can't seem him in this cropping, either)!

Ron,
Aw gee. I'll bet you say that to all the members.
The tripod is vintage 2004. I wanted an old looking tripod for a display and didn't have one. So I made it. Hardly authentic but nobody noticed the Robertson screws and plastic knobs. Next one will be better I hope.
Ron, you are yellowish green in your photo. Have you seen a doctor recently?
Concerned, Mickey

You made it?! That's pretty cool! Is it very heavy? I have an old Burke & James 8x10 view camera that I intend to restore. I may never use it again, but I'm going to remove the battleship grey paint they used on it when new, because it's a marvelous cherry wood underneath! I have an old metal blunderbuss of a tripod that carries it...hardly vintage looking, and with a spring-loaded center armature that could take your head off, if you weren't careful! I'd love to build a matching wooden tripod to hold it, even if it is only for display, and yours certainly appears capable! ----- yellowish green? LOL I thought I looked flushed and red, like always! ;D

Ron,
It's quite simple or else I couldn't have done it. It is made of pine, therefore is quite light. Each leg is in two sections and extends from 39" to 60". I think it is the dark walnut stain that makes it look kind of old. I was going to beat it with a chain to distress it as is done with fake antique furniture. I didn't have the heart. It now resides in my living room. With that little Premoette 1A mounted on it it looks quite ridiculous. Which is my intention.
Red? Could you have posted the negative in error?
Mickey

Adnittedly, I can only see the top of it, but the top certainly looks impressive. Somewhere online I ran across a sketch on how to make a tripod for a large format camera...but I'll be darned if I can find the link! My bookmarked files take up a lot of room! If I come across it, I will post it so everyone can see it. As to that picture, I'm wondering if you perhaps have me confused with that sickly yellow-green image of our Fearless Leader, Randy, that started this thread? ;D
