For an older guy, I am new to manual focus cameras. Coming from full autofocus cameras, I was hesitant to try manual focus SLRs. It's been about 5 years now since I have immersed myself into the manual cameras and loving it

lesdmess, welcome to the club! Here are both manual and autofocus newcomers as veterans. I consider myself as "older", and autofocus comes in handy at times when speaking of critical focusing on wide apertures.

lesdmess,
I am older. Believe me, I AM OLDER.
Autofocus is a blessing for senior citizens. But there are occasions when manual focus is called for. Seeing the subject snap into focus with just a mere flick of the wrist is still a thrill.

I was also apprehensive with achieving critical focus - especially with fast lenses wide open, but I am now also comfortable with that after using the Minolta and Pentax F1.2s. Of course it is only a matter of time before my age will finally catch up with my eyes as it has with the rest of me . . . Right now autofocus comes in handy when having someone else take a photo of me and the little lady when we are out and about!
