As it is currently such nice wheather i've decided to go for a walk in the park. As i am going to need some tele shots for my students in the upcoming season i took some long glass along, amongst wich the tamron 200-400. What can i say ? first, the AF is useless, i could focus faster and better by using MF, taken in to considderation it was a bright an Sunny day with enough contrasts, even then the tamron couldn't decide where to focus, secondly you really have to stop the lens down to get something that resembles sharpness, the low contrast of the lens isn't working in it's favour either. My verdict, only use this lens if you've got nothing else, in some situations it could be usefull but prepare for a lot of frustration. The good news? i've only paid the lens 80€ i don't think for that money you could find anything better in that focal range. Here's one i came home with yesterday :

I like the picture, it seems sharp enough. Reports from the net says it is a good lens. Tamron lens report.I think when shooting with such a long telephoto lens, a tripod is mandatory. Also unbelieveable small amount of camera shake can blur images.
