I have at long last found a display for my classic cameras. The Kallax from Ikea. It is 33cm cubes available from 2 to 12 cubes. I bought the 8 space model and a drawer and a cupboard insert. This would be perfect for vinyl collectors. Of course 1 cubic foot of space isnt the best way to display cameras so I had to find something. I found these small hexagon shaped boxes for under £3 each in a local art shop with the lids off and the hinges etc. removed they can be used in a variety of ways. let the pics talk... There is not space for ALL my cameras unless I lose the drawers, books and cupboard so I plan to rotate them. This is the part with my Voigtlanders and Zeiss cameras. Back row: Voigtlander Perkeo, Contina l and Zeiss flashgun Middle row: Vitoret, Vito B and Contina lll with a Photopia rangefinder Front row: Vito ll and Nettar 518/16 The odd one out here is the Vitoret, being a 60's camera it's not a legitimate part of my collection. Any offers? I had run out of little boxes for this one, so this area displays cameras representing the country of origin of most of my cameras. No Japan or France, but that will be taken care of when I get more boxes. So here we have: Back row: Polaroid Highlander 80B (120 conversion), 1957 Edixa Flex with Iscaotar 50mm f2.8, Lithagon 28mm f3.5 and waist level finder Centre: Werra 1, sadly missing lens cap. Front: Agimatic, Zorki 2C

Next up is my Braun collection. Unfortunately no room for the Wolf Lux 66 Back row: Paxette llM with an Agfa Tully flash, Paxina 35 Middle row: Gloria, Paxette 28 Front row: A pair of Paxette lA's but they are both different. I must define exactly which they are. One with a Ticky flash. Next one is a bit of a mixture, no theme, just what would fit... Back: Beautyflex D, Beauty Canter 2.8 Middle: Balda Baldina, Franka Super Frankarette V1 Front: Montanus Montana, King Regula llA

Very nice display, Phil, reminds me of the IKEA Kalarxes/Expedites of my kids - filled with other stuff...

It is an impressive collection, how long did it take to collect all those cameras? A clever way of showing them also, I like the way you have a lightmeter, a box or a film in between. Is Vitoret for sale?

Thank you Hans and Truls. It is wife friendly too as it takes up only the space of the cabinet. We are decorating the spare bedroom so the boxes everything was stored in had to go.
Truls the Vitoret is for sale, its not in bad condition and has been used with film so I know it works. There is a small screw missing from the top cover but otherwise its fine. I'd rather exchange it for something more suited to my collection. Working or otherwise. PM an offer if you like
Its not taken me too long, about 2 years. Some of the cameras I have had for longer than that. I have a watch list on ebay. I find old magazines and BJP books from 1954 - 1957 and make a wants list. I scour the net and online market places. Once in a while I put a bunch of cameras on ebay and use the paypal to buy more. I havent spent much of my own money on this lot its bought mostly with profit made on other stuff.

I am the proverbial cheapskate. Most of the cameras in the back row of each shelf are standing on horizontal facial tissue boxes spray painted matte black. I also will cut the box to any desired length to fit an awkward space or to stand vertically. If the item is heavy I stuff old newspapers or plastic "popcorn" in the box. I have some shelves with cameras on the shelf. Behind them more cameras on boxes and behind that row a box on top of a box topped by a camera. That is three rows of cameras on one fairly deep shelf. Whenever possible I will use the original camera box or even an empty slide tray or Irish Spring soap boxes are very useful I try to make whatever I use as inconspicuous as possible hence the black paint. The pictured shelf is for my Argus collection. There is still room for more cameras. Mickey

A fine collection of Arguses (Argi?) Mickey. I had been using cardboard boxes exactly like yours but one collapsed in the night and a camera fell onto the bed. That really scared us!

The reason for my classy newspaper or popcorn stuffings. I do have cameras in my bedroom but none are close enough to attack me in my sleep. Horrors!!! Mickey

Now I must move the cameras 'not' in my collection, i.e. those bought to sell on and those that simply do not fit within the remit of my collection. I will put them in market place for a couple of weeks before ebaying them.
mostly lenses but a couple of cams now listed.

I used to have about 25 more including a first year Zorki 1. But I sold some to finance my Nikon and Digital habit. I actually have less than 50 no. The second photo is just the top portion of the other photo. W.
