Haha thanks! I really hope it turns into a big collection soon Welcome, Rube. A big collection? It is so easy. All you need is a shovel, a very big truck and plenty of shelf space - plenty of shelf space - loads of shelf space - miles of shelf space. And a duster. Merely shovel the money you acquire, by whatever means, into the big truck. Each time you fill the truck drive it to your bank. Think of it not as filthy lucre but rather as cameras and more cameras. Glorious cameras. You will soon find an endless stream of cameras flowing in your direction. You will have contracted a disease called Photoacquisitionbsession Syndrome. It is lots of fun and, thankfully, incurable. It is not fatal but does weaken one's willpower dramatically. Even that famous healer, Doctor Oz, has no miracle cure. So enjoy yourself. Mickey

Mickey Mickey you make it sound like a good thing Rubes, you can pick up more Zeiss really cheap on ebay if you look often. I find that mentioning to people that you collect and 'rescue' old cameras, they've always got one knocking about somewhere which they will give you. Gumtree and Freecycle are great places too. Camerapedia is a great resource for finding about particular models. And of course members here always have an opinion! We have some with expert knowlege. Hans is our Zeiss specialist, he will be interested in the models you have along with the serial numbers. Mickey (above) is the joker in the pack. Show us what you've got, no collection is too small Phil

Good morning Ruby (it's early here in Italy). It is good to see you back.
I assume that you are are young student. Tell us how and why a young person in this era becomes interested in classic film cameras and photography. I am curious given the fact that most photos today are captured by cell phones and iPads. Some of us, like me, are very interested in film camera technology but do most of our photography with digital cameras of various sorts.

It's currently 2a.m in California And yes I am a young student who recently started University. One day I started getting really interested in vintage and antiques. So I started searching for records, old coke bottles etc. And one day some lady gave me a polariod camera and since that day I started gaining more interest for cameras and this lead to me discovering classic films and other cameras as well. Although I don't have much time to spent on these things as I wish I would, I still manage to appreciate the little time I get to learn about cameras and antiques. I have to admit that I do sometimes use iPads and especially my iPhone but I think I was born in the wrong era lol.
