Due to problems with my internet provider - they sent me a new useless router to host my own server. After some downtime, I cannot see my images here on the forum anymore. Hmm... I tried to insert an image, but it will not appear - no error message either.

It was all my fault, everything is working now. I have upgraded the server software, so, some configuration got lost, denying access to display images.

I am convinced that computers are evil creatures sent to our planet to confound gullible and innocent human beings.

I somewhat agree with Mickey, sometimes computers are evil If I loose my password to my encrypted disk... All images gone. Then I have my printed images in albums, everything is not lost after all. I have a Debian server in my house hosting my images and mail. This setup is very stable. But, when upgrading software new configurations insist to install over my config, then some problems can occur. In the end system logs becomes my friend, it is mostly easy to resolve problems. After all, it it werent for computers, we would probably not be forum friends. That is a good thing!

Just think after hundreds of pre computer centuries what might have been accomplished if Bill Gates had set his mind to improving smoke signals or hollow log pounding.
I, myself as a youngster, together with other scientifically predisposed friends, experimented with an advanced hearing system no more complicated than two empty soup cans and a length of string. Unfortunately we were unable to find cans that had contained the right kind of soup.
Where would other incredible advances be today without some timely serendipity? For example without the coke bottle we would probably still be using pinhole cameras.

Computers (and the Internet) a responsible for more lost productive time in business than any other factor. Business was better off with filing cabinets, adding machines and typewriters.

... And horses were such nice people ... The horses will be back, when there's nothing left to burn in the power stations. The future is theirs.
