In the past weeks i've bought a few mirrorless camera's in order to use them with legacy glass. The cameras are the pentax Q, samsung NX 100 and the olympus E-pl1. These are all "budget" models and i wasn't foolish enough to pay the list price for them (as a matter of fact i've got them for a fraction of that). I've ordered canon FD, nikon F, M42 and c- mount adapters and used them with diffrent focal lenghts legacy lenses on these three bodys.
My (brief)conclusion so far is apart from the olympus these cameras can take legasy lenses but are quite useless with them. The pentax dosn't allow focus peaking nor dos the samsung. The samsung hasn't got image stabilisation and on the pentax it won't work with manual lenses, in fact i suppose it is counter productive as the slightest movement with the camera causes the image to be deformed like in a crazy mirror (even at high shutter speeds!)So it is best to stick with these two to the original glass (wich is nothing to write home about on the samsung).
This leaves us with the olympus, even though it is a budget model everything works on it, focus peaking, image stabilisation just about every program it all works with anything glass wise you can fit on the body. So this has become my favourite, the only complaint? it is micro four thirds sensor size wich makes every focal lenght x2 difficult to find anything wide angle -like. But since everething else works so well on the oly i might consider buying the RJ Nikon F/G reducer speed booster turbo adapter m43 mft, wich will reduce the focal lenghts back to their original lenght and gives you a 1 stop gain in light.
BTW i also had a sony nex3 but i sold it as i didn't like it then, maybe i'll get one back to give it a second chance with what i know now.
The oly with it's "granddad"
Made with the oly and a nikkor 25-50 zoom camera program at at high contrast grainy B&W
