My first digital camera was a Leica Digilux 4.3, a compact point-and-shoot with a very nice zoom lens and sensor. This great little pocket companion was built by Fujifilm (and sold as their model 4700). The one area where this camera was not very useful was in close-up photography of table-top objects, something I do quite a bit of. I decided to build an adapter to allow to use my small ring-flash with this camera. I needed to solve three problems: 1) provide a way to mount the flash around the retractable lens. 2) find a way to trigger the flash - camera has no PC connector. 3) add a cable release socket - another missing feature. I built my adapter from aluminum plate and bar stock held together by machine screws. Scraps of teak were used to form a handle. I used a Wein Peanut optical flash trigger module and a step-up adapter ring to complete the project. Click on the link under this photograph for details of construction an example of use. I have one of these ring flashes. Yours adaptor is a good idea. Nice diagrams and an interesting method of cable release adapting
I'd make a version of this inspired by your own project. Tho to be honest I wouldnt use it with a compact. Thanks for showing it.
