If your Konica Auto S2 or even the Auto S model has a rocking lens barrel and you need to check out why, read the following
Between the Film Speed Dial and the Self-Timer the movement should be 1mm only. If tighten fully the self timer will not operate
The cure for this is dead simple on the Auto S 2: removal of both the name plate around the front lens and the front lens group (usually comes out easily on a Konica) offers access to a brass retainer ring in crown design above the cocking rack/shutter mechanism. Loosen the locking screw half a turn, then tighten the ring screw that keeps the whole assembly in place. Do not overtighten it as this will prevent the exposure time ring from rotating smoothly, in other words, a certain play is necessary for the proper functioning of the whole thing. 1mm of play is recommended by me for no problems have ever occurred.
If the rear section of the lens moves at all the outer ring on the rear cell needs to be tighten fully
When done try out the focus adjustment. If sloppy the thick lubricant on the helicoil used is gone causing this sloppiness
