Can a 10 year old pentax dslr image quality wise be compared to a "new" nikon 7100 ? It's an unfair competition, but since i've got both cameras i was curious just how they would compare, maybe some of you do to? Both DX cameras equipped with standard original(manual) 50mm lenses, aperture priority/200iso highest quality Jpeg settings. Pentax K100D and nikon D7100 The scene Compared at the same crop: out of focus image of the pentax, focussing wide open is trial and error In the right conditions the pentax performs as well as the nikon but those right conditions rarely occur. There's no competition AF speed, high iso, writing speed, max buffer, shooting rate and a lot of things i probably forgot to check, but i guess that's obvious, but those 2 shots at f11 do look very much the same don't they? The pentax has cost me 50euros with takumar 50 1:1.8 the 7100 body only, some ten times more. I just realised this post is in the wrong topic, sorry for that !
