Upon till now things were going well posting photo's on the camera collector.
But now out of the blue photo bucket where all of my photo's are hosted send me this email:
WE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING
PHOTOBUCKET FOR 3RD PARTY HOSTING*
TO RESTORE YOUR 3RD PARTY HOSTED IMAGES,
PLEASE UPGRADE TO A PLUS 500 PLAN.
There was no previous warning and now photobucket is holding my photo's hostage untill i pay 399$ to get the plus 500 plan.
I considder this nothing less than an act of piracy and there's no way in hell i'll be paying anything.
The result is that all the photo's in my postings are now invisible to all of us.
I'll be looking into alternatives to solve this problem or leave it as it is and start a new with a decent hosting company, or use my cloud space to host the pictures myselve.
It's sad all my work has gone to waste, i don't thrive any buisness nor get any money out of any of my postings on the web, so people be warned about photobucket if they'll pull this trick on you!
Just to be sure in case you didn't know (as i did) this is the photobucket policy:
*What is 3rd Party Hosting?
Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.
If any of you have any suggestions or good experiences with decent image hosting sites do let me know i'll be happy to look into them.

It is stated in their terms of use, my bad should have read them a long time ago: Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.

I've found other means of image hosting, now i'm gonna try to replace the links in my most recent posts so the images will re-appear. This however will take some time...

Dear Belgiumreporter,
I'm in the same boat! I just got the same letter and note that photos I've posted in various forums have been replaced with a notice to update my account to allow 3rd part posting. I'm angry about this and think I'll just leave those links alone as a warning to others about Photobucket's dishonorable business approach. They clearly baited millions of us in.
I have used their printing services for canvases, and novelties such as cups and puzzles. You can be sure I will never do so again!

I tend to delete old photos on Photobucket and that has evidently kept me within my 2GB. But I have recently experienced problems linking to PhB and now I usually copy someone else's post, nick their link and edit it to my image and then delete the rest. Something similar has happened on Flickr, with reduced functionality, unless you upgrade the account - not so steep as you quote from PhB but nevertheless.

Hmmm. I have an "ad free" plan (paid, but quite cheap)in Photobucket. Only 2 GB, but then I only store there at web resolution.
So far, no pirating messages have appeared. However I am taking careful note of this. And starting a massive download too. Many thanks for the heads-up.
I am getting tired of predatory behavior. But I need cloud storage, so I will be shopping around soon, for sure not with Photobucket.

Okay guys, i found my way to the postimage site wich seems to be a better and free alternative to photobucket. It is very simple to use. if you can see the picture in this posting then this wil mean everyting is working just fine with the link provided by postimage, otherwise i'll have to use the camera collector way by adding the square bracket img rule. Oh and by the way i've downloaded my comlplete album and closed my account on photobucket, if their claim is correct i'll be rid of them within 48 hours.

Dear Belgiumreporter, Thank you for the lead on www.postimage.org. It is far easier to use than Photobucket and there are no ads trying to step on your every operation! As a courtesy to my friends on this forum I will eventually clean up all of my Camera Collector posts by deleting all links to the hateful Photobucket after I upload a photo library to Postimage. But, I'll leave my " ya' shouda sent us money" replacement images from Photobucket elsewhere as a reminder of their hateful business practices. Let's hope Photobucket enjoys a very expensive trip into the financial basement (and into the Federal court system) for their vile "bait and switch" ploy.

Okay, so this was just to good to be true? They don't say anything about just how much things would cost, i am willing to pay a reasonable fee but as long as i don't know what's ahead of me i will not continue using their services and ending up as i did with photobucket. The search continues....

I haven't been sitting still and started re-uploading the images of my most recent post. I'm using imgur now and so far everything seems to be working just fine. it's a helluva job though and i am very annoyed by the idiot photobucket message littering all my posts wich haven't been adpted to imgur. I thought that when evrything would be removed from photobucket the hostage messages in my posts would dissapear, they did not. So far my classic cameras in 3D posting has been partially restored, still working on it to get it back to its former glory...

Thanks for all your 3D photos. Much appreciated. And (appreciation)2 for doing it all a second time. Let's hope that (appreciation)3 won't be necessary.
The few pictures I've posted here through Photobucket are still displaying, but I suppose it's just a matter of time.
