Just bought an Olympus OM 2 Spot Program body on ebay. It is apparently in good cosmetic condition but the film wind-on lever is stuck. So was for parts or repair. I am hoping that removal of the bottom plate might reveal the source of the problem. Anyone with experience of this camera please?
I already have a Mint OM-1 and a good Om-2 so I am quite prepared to keep this as a display only item. I also found out that this camera model is not well known and not highly regarded and has had electronics problems. We will see!

The camera arrived in the post today. Very good cosmetically, paintwork like new, and the lever wind did work, the shutter not. After taking the Olympus body cap off things started to free up. Everything working - ran through all the speeds, excellent. Put the body cap back on (the right way round,)then the shutter stopped. Put a lens on (Tokina zoom)everything works fine. I think that the body cap was interfering with the aperture lever. I like the camera and I can buy a big card full of batteries for £1 so I am keeping it. I like the look of it in black but it is obviously not in the same class for materials & construction as the OM-1 & OM-2. Camera cost £22.50p.

I put mine to the mechanical 1/60 after using it. This turns off electronic and saves the batteries. I do the same with the OM4 and even with OM4 Ti which should have not so thirsty electronics.

Hannes, thanks for that advice......... However it took me ages to find the little button that enables the red 60 on the shutter dial to line up!

Hannes, very good advice! I wished I had this advice some years ago..:-( But, on the bright side, a OM2SP is now back on the radar! Hans

The OM2 SP is a very interesting camera. It was not on my radar for long time. But then I there was one for a price I could not resist.
You have to read the manual more than once and use the camera a few times till you recognize what the electronic features can do for you. Even if it has no program mode you can use the settings in a way that comes a real program mode very close.
My favorite still is the OM 2n, but using the SP makes fun too.
