We've been fortunate to do some traveling over the past few years. Took a Nikon D100 on a Europe tour in 2007 and a D300 to China in 2008, but in recent times I've traveled lighter . . .Fuji Finepix F600EXR on a European and Russian river cruises. About the only thing I shot on a Panama Canal cruise was my Iphone 6. Not trying to shoot commercially and the gear I have been using is fine for prints up to 16 x 20. Auto carrier in Panama Canal. iPhone 6 Moon over Eiffel Tower. Nikon D100 Cartagena, Columbia. iPhone 6

Toori Ka Jhaira Bavdi (step well) Jodpur India. Shot with the motorola mot G7 Power cell phone. I've allways been reluctant towwards cell phone photography, but must admit the latest types of cell phones do produce good images and come in handy for those "on the road" snap shots. Wrong shot, this is made with the D7100
This is the Toori Ka Jhaira shot with the motorola

The fun thing with many digital compacts or cell phones is the possibility to make seamless panorama's, something wich was allmost inpossible in analogue days, unless you had a widelux, horizont or similar panorama camera. Here's a few examples i've made with the S9900,P600 and AW100 nikon compacts: Azores iguazu Brazil Praia de Chavez cabo Verde Torres del Paine Chili Chalkidiki Greece Arkjufelsfoss Iceland Agra India Pico Ruivo Madeira Wilson Bay New Zeeland Pairi Daiza Belgium Hell bourg RĂ©union Sapa Vietnam

when I travelled on job missions digital did not exist, so i experimented with tiny Minox C and their unreliable 35mm before moving to Rollei 35. The Leica and its various lenses was usually too big to fit in a suit pocket. Now not travelling that often, i still find bringing the heavy artillery too cumbersome, so I have a small Sony-something with a rettractable so-called "Zeiss" zoom. The camera has a back screen that has to be used as a viewfinder, but usually works, while giving fairly good raw-files. Replay, wiFi and other useless frills can be disabled to save battery power while the memorycard can be extracted so that the pictures are securely stored and "developed" on my laptop.

I use a Panasonic TZ80. Nice wide lens and long zoom. The thing that did it for me was the viewfinder and the RAW capability. I've had it 4 years and it's half what I paid for it now and Mrs B bought one for herself. A super travel camera. I'll post some pics.

While not allowed to travel due to the corona crisis i had to find something to ease the pain. Just this week the Belgium governement decided to ease down on the lock down and we are now allowed to travel short distances in Belgium. Because Canada is still on my "to travel to" list i decided to go to the "last frontier theme park" where at least one can sniff up some Canadian spirit. Along with me (apart from my wife) came the nikon 1 V1 on what is most likely the last journey of that camera. Because i don't use it on a regular basis the controls of the camera are very confusing and i lost quite a few shots getting lost in the menu structure. It became clear to me the advantages of the V1 are nowhere in comparison to the drawbacks. Because i've got so much better gear i won't feel sorry to "puting the V1 down" don't know if i should sell it or just use it as drawer stuffing for the rest of its life. Here's a few shots on the last frontier made with the V1 with the 10-30 and 30-110 system zoom lenses.
