In digital cameras, it's not film but the sensor that determines potential image quality. That being so, and given the pace of technology, it's easy to see why manufacturers don't build digital cameras to last, as they did with film cameras.
I hold on to my Pentax Q, because it's tiny and cool, and because, fitted with a 70mm Auto 110 telephoto, gives me an equivalent to an f2.8 387mm telephoto that concert venues will let pass because "it's not a professional camera."
But I don't love any digital camera the way I love my Contax II or my old Nikons.

Just an update - With a Fuji X-T100 and new X-Pro2 body , the X-Pro1 and X-T1 are firmly in the collectors corner ! I am not saying that they will not get out at times , but generally semi-retired . Gotta trim out some ex-USSR cameras shortly .... !
