My Argus/Mamiya Prismat arrived yesterday (Thursday) The bayonet mount lens is marked Argus-Sekor 58mm f 1.7 serial 963906 looks clean inside, focuses smoothly. The body is good on the outside, the shutter works, the lever wind very smooth, the viewfinder and mirror are clean. Serial number 3886542, still has the JC11 ? sticker on it. Internally it is a bit sticky and part of the light seal, or something else has dried out and is very stubborn to remove. I was wondering just how rare this camera as an Argus, with this lens is now?
I have now cleaned the insides, I don't feel inclined to renew the lightseals as the gap is very narrow.
It came together with a chrome Yashica FX-D with the Yashica 50mm f2 lens which has very very light fungus inside. The camera works perfectly, the metalwork is good, no scratches, no dents (I think that the top might be a form of plastic anyway) the body covering in the usual state which I have removed in preparation for a set of 'Millys Cameras' self adhesive covers in black leather. I have also renewed the light seals, messy, a job I hate. I paid a total of £40 for the two - which I think is OK. +£12 for the covers.
I am not too upset about the lens because it was not described as perfect and unless you know what you are looking for, it could appear to be dust.
