Hello all, I'm new, just joined, need help 1. I bought a 'Novatech 5.0 Mega Max' old digital point and shoot (picture attached) from a charity shop in the UK, £5, no problem...it's for charity. No accessories or instruction manual though 2. Uses 2 AA batteries. It switches on and able to take pictures. I can see them in the LCD panel<>review. Now i want to take the pictures into the computer. 3. It has a USB port and an SD card slot. 4. Bought a brand new USB lead at a bazaar/market that fits perfectly. Connected it to the PC (Windows 8), also laptop (Windows 10) via this lead. Both PC and laptop fail to see the camera/pictures. So i cannot take the pictures out that way. Maybe it needs a special driver on the computer? 5. Ordered the original format SD card (2Gb, and not SDHC, not SDHX, not micro SD). Put it in the camera. Format option comes up. I said yes. Message pops up 'CARD ERROR'. 6. Can anybody help me? If you know the cure, let me know. Or if you can find the instruction manual for the Novatech 5.0 Mega Max (picture attached) or anything at all about the camera (an eBay link, whatever) anywhere on the internet, please let me know. I just cannot find anthing on the internet at all to do with this camera. Thank you so much. jamelikat, oxford, UK. 3 sept 2020

Older cameras used CF cards - I have a Canon from 2005 like this.

Perhaps the card has the protection switch in the down position. Will the card work in another camera? If the switch is in the up position and it works in another camera, then perhaps the camera is faulty. Transfer images via a card reader or the card reader slot on your pc.

Older cameras used CF cards - I have a Canon from 2005 like this. Some of my older Fujifilm cameras use XD cards now obsolete but you can still get them but with limited storage capacity. I have a pile of them most less than 1GB.

Welcome jamelikat. Maybe it won't take a card with such a high (!!) capacity as 2GB? Have you checked the camera menus for some reference to USB settings?

Thank you John, Phil and Rachel. I've got it WORKING !! I found a 1Gb version of the old style SD card amon the junk in the basement, popped it in the camera and worked straight off, hooray. Re. 'USB' in the menu settings, will go look Rachel, though I''d not noticed anything there before. It must be that whatever software disc that originally came with the camera would have some kind of essential software there that brings pictures from the camera into a Windows PC, probably Windows XP.
But yayy, main thing is, my camera is now fully usable and now i know that 1GB original style SD card is the biggest and best option for it unless i get the USB to work....
Thanks for helping. Best wishes
jAm PS, and no Phil, the 2Gb SD i used is fine, switch up (not locked) and otherwise works normally. Chrs.
