i've bought this Zaria because it looked funny and i never heard of it before. A little research learned me it is one of the less succesfull creations of the FED factory, being in production only for two years. Admittedly there's little to like about this camera and i can only imagine people would use it because there was no other camera in the USSR available. There's no rangefinder, guessing distances with a 50mm 2.8 is a recepy for disaster. Some people suggest the Zaria would be more usable with a 35mm wich isn't so critical on focus. With that setup i can imagine it could be usefull as a discrete street shooter no need for a (range) finder, just shooting from the hip at a pre-set focussing distance. I'm not going to try it out but just for looks i made this Zaria set up with the Jupiter 12 35mm, the extra finder could maybe help on getting the right framing

No slow speeds or rangefinder, less to adjust or repair. Looks like a Fed; should be quite useable with a 35mm lens.
