With the arrival of this grey on black Yashica-A i delved a little deeper in to the Yashica TLR history. It came clear to me there's more than meets the eye and there dosn't seem to be a shortage of different types and (color)variations, enough to do some hard-core collecting for those who should feel like it. Now another thing that caught my eye is that the same type is sometimes labelled as a Yashicaflex or just Yashica followed by the type letter (A-C-D-Mat and so on) i guess it has something to do on wich market they were sold.

Nice grab! If you haven't seen this web site, it has a pretty detailed history on the Yashica TLR's. www.yashicatlr.com/

Thanks guys for these links, they have been very helpfull. Apparantly a google search isn't a fool proof way to get the info i want, as the sites you mentionned didn't pop up.(or maybe were on page 372 or so)

And Nicca and Leotax. There's not much quality info on those makes. And the best source is hidden away on a TLR site

Just found this Yashicaflex, another one to add to the TLR collection. Still have to do some research on wich type it exactly is, but i'm sure the sites suggested by Pendennis and John Farell will be a big help.
Update, from what i could find on the www.yashicatlr.com/ website and according to the serial numbers on the body and taking lens, it's a A-1 type 3 (with the plain coverplate on the shutterhousing) made in 1954. Browsing through the www.yashicatlr.com/ made me realise there's an incredible amount of different Yashica TLR's far more than i could ever imagine. I'll just concentrate on getting some of the key models and maybe some color variations.
