The Rollei TLR collection is growing at a somewhat slower pace than the Yashica's. The latest addition is a Rollei Magic II. After reading horror stories about the Rollei Magic (specially the I) i was pleasantly surprised at just how good this II is. Everything works as it should. I am cofused though, how the "Magic" works in auto mode ; shutter speeds do change in diffrent light but what happens to the apperture ? is it fixed wide open? or does it change automatic toghether with the shutterspeed? (wich would make it a program auto camera) There's nothing in the manual on this subject.

What do the 2 round knobs (?) between the lenses do? Are they just ornamental or do they serve a porpuse?

What do the 2 round knobs (?) between the lenses do? Are they just ornamental or do they serve a porpuse? On just about any Rolleiflex the "knobs" between the lenses decorative as they may be, do serve a purpous.(and are in fact wheels) When holding the camera turning the left one sets the aperture, the right one sets the shutterspeed. This set up was later adapted by Yashica on their Mat models. On the Rollei Magic though, the left one is for focussing the right one has a double function: turning it sets both shutter and aperture to a chosen EV value(shutter/aperture combination), pressing the little button in the middle of the wheel and then turning the wheel will set the chosen EV or engage the auto function. Looking down on the Rolleiflex in the small window on top of the viewing lens you can see the chosen aperture and shutterspeed. In the small window on the right side of the Rollei Magic you can see the chosen aperture, EV value, shutterspeed and focussing distance (and between the red brackets the depth of field )
