Just arrived from the auction site. A Black Miranda RE-2 with f1.8 Auto Miranda lens 50mm in very nice condition. The seller admitted to a slight amout of fungus in the lens but it is very hard to see. The body is vey good with a few small touches of brassing, nothing too bad, no dents.. The exposure meter sort of registers, the needle moves erratically and I wouldn't trust it - and the shutter speeds seem about right. My first black Miranda. I can find no serial number on the body, but the number 1502 is stencilled inside the film compartment in a dark ink. Is that significant?

Look at the collar around the rewind cranck for serial number. I've got two black REII's one has the stencilled number (1501) in the film chamber while the other has not or not even a sign there has been one....
I guess it'll take a miranda specialist to clear things out about the stencilled numbers. I will have a look at some other bodies to see if this is a REII thing or if it is done on other types as well (and why?)

I had to move a display cabinet and needed to take out all the cameras, among them the mirandas. Took the opportunity to have a look inside their film chambers, out of 20 different cameras only one black REII and a black auto sensorex EE had a stencilled code inside, wich poses the question if it has something to do with the black versions? Furthermore the serial numbers are on some cameras on the rewind cranck collar while others are on the bodies, so far i can't find a pattern why... Now i have to sort these out and put them back on the shelves:

I have just found two more bodies with stencilled numbers. Out of 7. Both silver. A Miranda Sensomat RE with 5306 and.... A Soligor TM with 1410. What that denotes I have no idea.
