Now the M42 to Z adapter has arrived it is time to test a few 50mm (or there about) M42 lenses. I've tested them all at full aperture at heir shortest focussing distance to see how the background is rendered. This was on test : 1) Steinhell München Cassar 1:2.8 50mm 2) Domiplan 2.8/ 50 3) Helios-44 58mm f2 4) Helios 44-4 58mm f2 with reversed front lens 5) Cosina 55mm 1.8 6) Pentacon 50mm 1.8 7) Pentax Super takumar 1:1.4 ( the one with the thorium elements) 8) Industar 50-2 3.5 50mm The Steinhell and the Domiplan have the same "soap bubble" bokeh wich might suggest they've got the same optical formula. Mecanical they are far apart the Steinhell full metal/ 12 blade aperture the Domiplan plastic and some metal, 6 blade aperture. Here they are: and here's the results (best zoom in a bit for best viewing results)
