I've bought this praktiflex FX for the sole reason it came with the famous Zeiss Biotar. My plan was to put the biotar on the Contax F to let the Contax look at its best. Secondly iw as planning on comparing the original Biotar with the Russian clones. The Biotar however is full of fungus, i took it apart and was able to remove the fungus, but the glass surfaces seem to have been affected and damaged. I'm gonna try to repolish the lenses, they are in such bad shape it couldn't get any worse so it'll be a good experience to see if i can pull this off and maybe save the lens. The Praktina even though it works well, is such ancient technology it isn't fun to use (imagine driving a model T ford in modern rush hour traffic) However as it is one of the first 35mm slr's (the third actually after the kine-Exakta and the Russian Start) it is an intersting piece to see how slr's have evolved to this day.

I had a similar problem with a couple of Biotar lenses - I fixed it by rubbing the lens element surface lightly with a finger coated with toothpaste.

Looks very similar to the Praktica FX. Maybe that should be the other way around
