On the 4th of September 1944 British troops and tanks rolled into Antwerp and the city became liberated from the German occupiers, half a year before the official end of the second world war.
So liberation day is celebrated here in Antwerp and it's districts ever since on the 4Th of september, by laying flowers and holding speaches at the different war memorial statues throughout the city. Each district then organises a wide range celebrations with fireworks, parades, fairs, hobby demonstrations and such...
