I've had a Nikon FA for a long time now, but it wasn't in the best condition, the "shoulders" are completely worn through from use of the carrying straps. So i was thinking of replacing it with a better example. This is when i won an auction for two "defective" FA's a black and a chrome one of wich i thought i could use them to replace the damaged parts of my FA. The chrome FA has indeed a damaged, beyond repair shutter, but the black one wich was described as "not releasing" just needed the battery compartement cleaned to be fully operational again. So there's no need to switch parts from one black FA to the other. However with this said i was thinking of stripping down the chrome one and make my "ugly" black into a chrome one. I guess this woul be a more easy operation than rebuilding the shutter of the chrome FA with the one from the black one. Anyway i still have to look in to what will be involved in transferring all chrome parts to the black one as the FA isn't a simple camera to strip down. The FA's: The worn shoulders: The copper-aluminum alloy chassis sadly doesn't age as well and isn't as rugged as the Nikons with a bronze chassis.
