From very early on when i started collecting canon SLR's i've had an EF wich was missing one of its battery covers, as they are next to impossible to find i never got to know if the EF worked or not. Some time ago i was able to buy a complete working EF and "borrowed" the battery cover to test the "old" EF and it to worked. Now last week i was able to buy a "parts" EF for very little money. I thought i could use the battery covers and trow the rest of the camera in the parts bin. When it arrived the only thing wrong with it is the off/on switch wich won't stay in the ON position everything else is OK, wich makes me a bit reluctant to scavenge the battery covers and throw the rest away. If you do not need an original, maybe you could have that cover 3D printed? and coat it internally with aluminum foil, for electrical contact, if needed?
