I had an odd conversation the other day with a friend (neither of us are photography junkies or collectors of any sort). We both remembered seeing a camera in popular mechanics back sometime in the early 2000s. It was some generic review/comparison article. One thing that we remembered was one of these cameras having what boiled down to a detachable remote. The entire back plate of the camera (all of the controls) was removeable and could be used as a remote shutter release. For the life of me, I cannot find anything online about this anywhere. I cont remember the brand name to be honest. I assume it was one of the more popular ones at the time. Anyway, if anyone has any incite into info about this camera, please do share it!

Not a film camera, and too recent but the Ricoh GXR might fit the description? Almost!
