The Canon 50mm 1:1.2 LTM wich i ordered in Italy came in today. To my surprise it looks even better in real life than it did on the photo's from the seller . I'll be testing it on digital and in a later phase on film in the upcoming days and will publish some results on CC.

There's one "small" problem, because of the size (diameter) of the lens the viewfinder is partially blocked, i've tried it on the "7" instead of the "P" but the problem is there to, the closer you get to the subject the parralax compensation moves the framelines further towards the lens barrel. This isn't very helpfull in composing your shot and i can only imagine if the 0.95 "dream lens" is used a seperate viewfinder will be necessary if you want to see anything at all. Adding a sun shade (wich is advisable on these type of lenses) makes things even worse!

First results are in, i've madea simple comparison with the lens wide open at 1:1.2 and stopped down at 1:2. The difference in sharpness and contrast is clear, but this lens is known for not being the best performer wideopen. Still results are useable and depending on the subject or lighting conditions the 1:1.2 has a right to exist. Here's some examples, my garden pixie once more was a willing model. Good comparison. At f/2 it seems excellent. It is a bit of a nuisance if you need an external viewfinder, but maybe I am spoiled by SLRs anyway.
