This may be my last post here.
I know no member has been expelled before, but there is no telling what the boss will do when he reads this.
Why?
Well, I have just sold my last Minolta SLR. My brief flirtation is over.
Its like this Randy ......
I have way, way too many cameras. I collect rangefinders, so buying Minolta SLRs because they are cheap, on eBay, was perhaps a step in the wrong direction.
Though I am now "Minoltaless", I hope they now have brightened the photographic lives of others.
I owned just four.
1. XD7 (£22) - so pleased was I with the results, that my best friend (we were at school together) said "I need a decent SLR to supplement my ageing Werra V" He is absolutely delighted with it. It is not exactly mint and when I saw a perfect one the other day on eBay, I suggested he bought it. He wouldn't hear of it, so attached has he become!
2 & 3 Arrived together.
2. XG9 (£10) and X700 (£25) were bought from the same seller. I had no use for the XG9 so it was re-sold a couple of months later.
The X700? This was my "keeper", but alas I didn't use it (too many others to feed) so when my son told me his friend Carl had a new baby and wanted a decent camera, what could I suggest?
So the X700 has found a new and appreciative home.
I quote "Paul, the camera is great and just the sort of inexpensive reliable 35mm I was after"
4. The Minolta XGM I bought for £6 has been offered as a prize for a competition in Amateur Photographer's forum. So far about 8 have used it and the list gets longer every day. The thread:

Ron "Really enjoyed using the XG-M Paul, to the extent as you know of getting one on e-bay to join the collection,"
"The camera itself was a pleasure to use. An immoral bargain at the price Paul secured it for, I would have loved to have owned such a camera when I first got in to SLR usage"
Another Lady competitor went out and bought one!
So you see Sir, I have actually increased the sum of Minolta joy in the world.
Paul
P.S. I will shortly be posting a few remaining Minolta "odds & sods" at the price I paid in the advert section.
Verdict
XD7 was the nicest. loved the finish, build quality, smooth as silk operation and the brilliant viewfinder.
The X700 came close, but did not really reach the pinnacle the XD7 set
The XGM was really the best bargain of all and that coloured my opinion. It did all I asked of it and every picture I took with it was exposed correctly and in focus. What more can I add?
Perhaps I might be tempted by a mint XD7 ....................
