Problems with the new Photobucket.
I had several hundred image on that site, but since the format of that site has been change and it's no longer possible viewing page by page. I have remove many of my older images, so it speeds up finding the latest picture..I reckon the PB was great and as for the new .. wonder why it was changed??

I am going to work at it for a couple of hours. A fair trial in my mind. Then I will decide.
All I really want is a substantial increase in loading speed. No bells or whistles.

I gave up on Photobucket ages ago, the speed dropped dramatically, but the annoying adverts didn't !

Photobucket seems to work OK for me on the new version, but I did not use the older version that much till posting on this forum. The downloads seem fast enough, but the adverts are annoying as they play at high volume, whatever setting is made apart from Mute. Stephen.

Hi Stephen, I had a quick look at the new Photobucket but I don't see any adverts ..... yet? Perhaps it's a sign of the times or just that I'm old fashioned but I find the all invasive "social media" new style of these sites annoying.

Hi Stephen, I had a quick look at the new Photobucket but I don't see any adverts ..... yet? Perhaps it's a sign of the times or just that I'm old fashioned but I find the all invasive "social media" new style of these sites annoying. They come on whilst downloading, ending early if the image is clicked on that is finished. The problem is that they are loud, and it overrides the volume settings I leave for general listening and Skype. The tone used is strident, deliberately. Mind you, it is over quickly as images are generally downloaded quite fast, and it is an add supported free site. They have improved the drag and drop loading, and copying the tags is easy. Stephen.

I don't think I've ever in all these years downloaded anything from Photobucket so I tried it out. The image downloaded OK without anything else happening.

This is an excerpt from my posting in "Competition" Q for Quest.
"This was also my test for the new PhotoBucket. It failed miserably. It took 7 minutes and 52 seconds to upload this from iPhoto to PhotoBucket. Meanwhile I had to sit and watch commercials. I have much better things to do. I could take a nap or polish my shoes. I would rather pay a reasonable monthly or annual fee to avoid commercials and get some speed.
So I now will return to the old Bucket."

Maybe it's not so friendly to mention the connection speed, but mines is 60meg cable, varies done to 20meg, with 5 meg upload speed. So it may be the broadband speed issue if the connection is slower that is giving the long times, none of mine have taken more than about 5-10 seconds. Log in sometimes takes 20-30 secs to respond.
I have no idea where the Photobucket servers are located, this can extend the times if not local to you. But none of this should really vary with the version of Photobucket.........
Further net research shows the servers are in Denver in the States, so you can use a broadband speed checker set to Denver to check actual speed and times, etc.
However there is a behind the scenes issue, the Photobucket user should have Java and Java Script enabled on the browser that is using Photobucket, or it defaults to slower HTML, now....please don't ask me for more details on this, I am no Java expert!!! nor HTML 5 etc, etc......
What it means is that particular browsers may work quite differently with Photobucket than with others, and I.E. may be slower than Firefox or Chrome, (which should be Java and Java script enabled by default).
If any Java or Html experts are out there they may be able to confirm or deny this issue, but I think it is behind why the Photobucket versions behave differently on different browsers etc., it may not be the web broadband speed behind this.
So it varies with the browser and whether Java and Java script is enabled. I will check the background further, but I am no expert in this area.
Stephen.

From the net, usual disclaimer, it is not my advice!!! But it is from the Support section of the Photobucket main website, so must be relevant to a check to see that the Java and Java Script are enabled.
The steps below will allow you to enable Java script on the browser you use.
Internet Explorer.........
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab. Click the Internet zone. If you do not have to customize your Internet security settings, click Default Level. Then do step 4. If you have to customize your Internet security settings, follow these steps: a. Click Custom Level. b. In the Security Settings – Internet Zone dialog box, click Enable for Active Scripting in the Scripting section. Click the Back button to return to the previous page, and then click the Refresh button to run scripts.
Firefox.......
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
In the Options window, select the Content panel. Enable JavaScript: Select this option to permit JavaScripts to execute on your computer. Click OK to close the Options window.
Chrome......
Select the wrench icon, Options, Under the Hood, then Content Settings (under Privacy), then make sure that the box is checked to "Allow all sites to run JavaScript" (third option under Content Settings).

I have checked my own settings and they are enabled on Firefox and Chrome, I cannot check I.E as I never used it and it never behaves itself!! I will disable the java and try Photobucket without it on. Stephen
