Lovely. Is that a spirit level on the front? yes it is.. dont really see the necessity for it.. maybe I'll want to erect another shed then it will come in handy It does appear in the viewfinder so guess it may be of some assistance when taking pic... but I doubt it

old thread but just couldn't resist... I collect cameras just for the sake of being able to hold part of photographic history in my hands and see the progress through the years.. I prefer working cameras and go to great lengths to obtain them and keep mine in working order though I seldom use them any more... about 98% of my cameras work (if you dont count the occasional light meter.. or time failed light seal) but I don't mind buying an OLD partially destroyed camera if its interesting... got a few Polaroids which I have never been able to get film for.. also a few wind up and hand cranked movie cameras (at least their motors run.. anything else is a bonus)

Have just taken delivery of my 'new' Kodak Stereo camera from the US Finally got the winning bid from Ebay at a not unreasonable $74AU of course the postage was a killer but thats the way it is when you live in Australia had to show someone, so here it is. All appears to be clean and working

I sometimes envy people in camera and associated trades .. whether it be sales, repairs, or professional photography I feel it would have been a nice way to earn a living but probably in truth for those involved there were maybe just as many nightmares as in other trades lot different for a fool like me who just enjoyed playing with cameras and seeing what I was capable of (which turned out to be .. not much) Lots of enjoyment though, which I still get today just from collecting ......

WOW I'm suitably impressed, some very nice cameras but yes some of those prices paid seem almost unbelievable wonder how much air fare is from Australia to US

also discovered link doesnt work.. I buy quite a lot of cameras from all sources in Australia and from ebay etsy etc and have found some very cheap prices advertised in the US but by the time I pay the huge postage costs and sometimes need to wait 6-8 weeks while they lose and re-find my purchases I wonder sometimes if its just better to pay more and buy locally

wow talk about technical.. may all be important for professional photographers and others in the trade as obviously many of you are.. to just the average camera bug like me all that I found important is easy to use and a clean crisp photo with good colour rendition (usually controlled more by dev & print process then camera) that could be enlarged to at least 10x8 inches without loss of clarity .. with a few exceptions I got that from most "modern" SLRs and I'm not going digital here Great to read how much importance you guys put into some of your equiptments capabilities... guess its for that reason camera manufacturers kept a high level of their products

having problems with parcel delivery in Aus to.. Australia post is going bust (due to poor governmental management) and are cutting staff which seems to be resulting in far more lost articles.. couriers are of no use to me personally as they will not come here and even with high postage rates drop items at their (local) depot... a 200klm drive for me in each direction, so you add that cost on and delivery becomes very expensive.. ebay getting involved in their own shipping company 'Global Shipping' from US insists on using these totally unreliable couriers

I cant say that I've ever seen a camera of any type that I wouldn't buy for $3 and take the chance... if you cant get them working they make stylish paper weights.... anyone want to buy a paper weight...

Don't you hate having cameras stored away in a box where you cant see them.. gotta be the most frustrating thing ever when for some reason you want to lay your hands on a particular camera and its hidden away some place Nice cameras, Ive always considered Pentax to be a bit of a benchmark, as I grew up I always found them to be a good reliable camera at a reasonably affordable price

I'm not a real fan of the seller who asks $25.00 postage when you know damned well its going to arrive in an $8.00 satchel... they must think people are stupid Having said that people still buy so maybe they are....

The big problem with buying things like film from ebay is you dont know how they've been treated.. couple of days in the hot sun at a "boot sale" doesn't do it much good

Its the start of summer in Australia and all thoughts turn to ways to keep cool... A sign like this (if true) assures cool swimming water.. obviously no children swim here
