Hi Conan... prices are constantly changing with inflation of course but cameras have certainly become affordable to the working class.. when I was a boy I was given a Kodak box camera (not 100% certain but think it may have been a 2A mod B) it cost my dad a small fortune and made me as happy as a pig in s##t. These days even before the advent of digital you can get them for a song but naturally the newly released cameras are still an expensive item but I dont think quite so as expensive in comparison once adjusted for inflation.. but heck of a lot more advanced technically
I just love cameras and I have an inbuilt hoarding bug.. have heap of different collections.. but I find with my cameras I like the OLD / SCABBY / non technical stuff as well as any and although I'm not interested in price so far as re-sale I like to know what the cost was when they were introduced
My collection hasn't progressed to Leica's or anything like that yet (havent found one for under $100 (which is my limit so far as collectibles) but have huge numbers of SLRs from Prakticas through to Nikons and Edixa's.. favourites probably fall into folding and box cameras
Housing them has become a huge problem.. luckily I'm a retired carpenter and not too bad at cabinetry and have built some 15 display cabinets of varying sizes but still almost half of my collection remains in boxes have started using sheds now to house the newer cabinets
Ohh and if you havent noticed I do tend to waffle on.....

Guess I'm just too much of an idiot, I cant work out how to start a thread and add pics to it, have spent all morning tryingto add pics as attachments (the only way I can work out at all whats being asked for) but seems they are too big to be added that way... maybe time to give up and try something else... thought I could work it out but maybe not.........

Thanks Stephen. your right, I do have instructions for many and films for most also flash bulbs etc. probably only 2 or 3 though where I have found original receipts though. I do my best though to take at least 1 picture with each camera, as much as a test as anything else Always thought a collection should have the common items from the day as much as those which are nostalgic.. exciting... or just plain beautiful

I've collected cameras for many years mainly from garage sales and junk shops, only recently have I started on the internet and was amazed at the variety of cameras available on ebay, quickly found out you cant always trust what sellers say and when you cant handle cameras before buying there's a lot of disappointment.. I;m a lot more careful now... still love the thrill of taking that first set of pics with a newly acquired camera though.. especially some of the really old nostalgic ones Bob

I do hope I can learn to post pics as well. I have problems finding info especially on the very common nothing type cameras Its easy enough to get shutter speed and aperture info etc. straight from the camera but I like to also find info such as release dates.. price at time of release etc. and all that seems to be recorded for older rarer cameras more then the simple focus free and self focusing ones such as all the Pentax Espios etc. I use Camerapedia and few similar sites but there must be more out there but being new to computers I have trouble finding things Oh and yes.. displaying this number of cameras is difficult I only have a little over half on display at the moment Sorry if my times are off.. I'm in Australia and times for rest of the world are always off

Guess I'm just an idiot, I just like to collect something I've always had an interest in, Cameras, I also thought it might be nice to meet other like minded people and maybe get some research information on some of the 1500 cameras in my collection Trouble is I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack and have only just been introduced to the world of computers and know little to nothing about them.. I'm in a remote area and access to the net at reasonable cost and speed has not been available for that long Has taken me almost an hour to register here and finally find a way to type in this intro... just makes me feel dumber... not even sure when I press enter that this won't all just disappear as much of what I try to send does Anyhow, thats about me.. an old guy.. thick as a brick and like collecting and using cameras.. if this works and I can manage to understand how I will be back looking for info on some items Cheers... Bob
